Bladen County Busted Mugshots
A booking photo is taken when someone enters custody. Behind that image sits a fuller file. It can hold a name, a booking date, the holding facility, the arresting agency, charges logged at intake, bond details, and release information. The Bladen County Detention Center answers to the Bladen County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's inmate-mail page also calls it Bladen County Jail, NC. Its facility identifier is 5298.
Here is a detail people often miss. The officer who makes the arrest is not always the office that keeps the record. BCSO deputies make arrests, but so do Elizabethtown Police, Bladenboro Police, White Lake Police, the State Highway Patrol, and others. Once a person lands in county detention, BCSO usually holds the intake file. That handoff explains why a city police report and a county booking record can disagree on dates, fields, or whether a photo exists at all.
North Carolina law permits booking photographs in certain felony and misdemeanor situations. That permission says nothing about online publishing. BCSO's public website offers no browser roster, no gallery, no same-day booking list, and no promise that every app result comes with a photo. What is advertised is an app-based search. If the app leaves questions open, call the detention line or send a carefully framed public-records request.
Bladen court files carry what a booking entry does not. Amended counts, pleas, dismissals, and trial outcomes all live in the court record, so that is the file to pull for the rest of the story.
What a Bladen Booking Record Shows
The BCSO app description names two functions, Inmate Search and Inmate Info. Even so, the agency publishes no field list for either. The table pairs common fields from secondary booking pages with the route to verify them against the official record. Treat it with care. A field on an unofficial page does not prove the app shows it, and a blank field does not prove the detail is missing.
| Field | What it means in Bladen County |
|---|---|
| Full name | The name attached to the booking or custody event. Confirm identity with more than a name. |
| Alias or spelling | An alternate name may help separate people with similar names. BCSO does not publish a public alias schema. |
| Booking number or inmate ID | An internal jail identifier. The inmate-mail page confirms that an inmate ID is used, but not its public format. |
| Facility | Bladen County Detention Center, also called Bladen County Jail, NC. Facility ID 5298 appears in inmate-mail instructions. |
| Booking date and time | The intake event date and, when recorded, the time. Secondary pages show these fields, but BCSO has not published its current list. |
| Arresting agency | The office that made or requested the arrest, such as BCSO or a municipal police department. |
| Charges as booked | The charges entered at intake. They are not findings of guilt. |
| Statute or charge code | A state statute or local code tied to the charge. Confirm the code in the court file. |
| Bond amount | The amount shown for release, if any. Bond can change, so confirm with the Clerk, magistrate, or detention center. |
| Bond conditions | The release terms, such as a written promise, secured bond, or no-bond order. |
| Booking photograph | An identification image if one was made and can be released. BCSO does not promise a photo for every app result. |
| Physical descriptors | Age, sex, race, height, weight, hair, or eyes may appear in a secondary record. Use descriptors carefully. |
| Date of birth | An identity check when lawfully available. It is not confirmed as an app field. |
| Address or city | A residence or city field can be incomplete. It does not prove where an arrest occurred. |
| First appearance or court date | A later judicial event. Search NC eCourts or ask the Bladen Clerk rather than assuming it is a jail field. |
| Current custody | In custody, released, transferred, or another jail status. The app and detention center are the local sources. |
| Release date and reason | Bond, transfer, sentence, or another discharge event. Request an incarceration or release record when needed. |
| Holds or detainers | Another agency’s hold, if lawfully documented. Do not infer an immigration hold from an ordinary county booking. |
| Disposition | Dismissal, not guilty, plea, judgment, or another case result. This belongs primarily to the court record. |
| Expunction status | Whether a qualifying court order directs removal or sealing. Confirm with the Clerk and certified order. |
Start with the basics when matching an identity. Write down the full name, the rough booking date, the arresting agency, and the facility first. Be wary of third-party city fields. They can be wrong, or they can show a home town rather than where the arrest happened. Booking charges can also linger after the court case moves on. So never stop a record search at the first matching name.
Request a Bladen Booking Record
BCSO publishes no online public-records form, no booking-photo fee schedule, and no response-time promise. Route your request to the Sheriff's Office. Use the detention line for custody questions. The county directory lists sheriff@bladenco.org. The contact block is Bladen County Sheriff's Office, 299 Smith Circle, Elizabethtown, NC 28337. The main office is (910) 862-6960, the detention center is (910) 862-6971, and fax is (910) 862-6949. County offices keep weekday hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ask the custodian which agency actually holds what you want. If a city officer made the arrest and the person went to county detention, you may need two requests. Send one to the city department for the incident report. Send one to BCSO for the intake, custody, or identification photograph. Keep each request narrow and name the specific record. A precise ask gets routed faster than a demand for everything about a person.
- Give the person’s full name, an approximate arrest or booking date, and the arresting agency if known.
- Name each record separately: booking or intake record, arrest report, identification photograph, commitment or release record, or releasable portions of all four.
- Ask BCSO to confirm the custodian, legal basis for any withholding, and whether the record still exists under the retention schedule.
- Request the delivery method and an estimate of any copying charge before work begins. No county-specific photo fee was published.
- Ask for an acknowledgment and estimated completion date. Do not describe an unconfirmed response period as a guarantee.
Chapter 132 of the North Carolina statutes is the starting point for inspection and copies. It covers documentary material such as photographs and electronic records. N.C.G.S. § 132-1.4 draws boundaries around criminal investigations. Copies may cost actual costs. The exact amount for a given booking photo has to come from the custodian. Ask for the releasable portions instead of insisting every image is automatically open.
Older requests run into the Sheriff records schedule. Identification photographs outside a case file may carry a three-year disposition period. Arrest reports outside a case file last five years. Inmate incarceration records are scheduled for three years after release or transfer. Felony and misdemeanor case files follow their own periods, which also differ between solved and unsolved matters. A schedule never promised an image would stay online, though. A private repost proves nothing about what BCSO still holds.
For the Smith Circle address and current telephone routing, the BCSO contact page carries the live details.

Older directories sometimes list a different jail number or a courthouse-related address, so rely on the current Sheriff page instead.
North Carolina Mugshot Law
Two state laws do most of the work here. N.C.G.S. § 15A-502 tells officers when they may photograph and fingerprint someone during a felony or misdemeanor arrest, with carve-outs for juveniles and certain motor-vehicle misdemeanors. It says nothing about websites, photo deadlines, or what any app must display. Chapter 132 sets the public-record baseline. Section 132-1.4 splits arrest information from criminal-investigation files. The public side covers the time, date, place, and nature of the alleged offense, plus the arrested person's name and basic details. Booking photos gathered during an investigation are not automatically open records. The custodian has to apply the statute to the actual record you asked about.
On pay-to-remove rules, North Carolina has not enacted a specific statute. Bills introduced in 2023 and 2025 never became law, so treat them as history. The real framework is Chapter 132, § 15A-502, court expunction and sealing rules, and each private site's own correction policy. A win in court does not wipe every copy off the Internet on its own.
Expunction turns on the facts of the case. The Judicial Branch makes clear that eligibility depends on the charge and how things ended. Some dismissed, not-guilty, or not-responsible charges qualify under § 15A-146. Cases resolved after December 1, 2021 may even qualify for an automatic process within the statutory window. The Clerk of Court and the resulting order control everything.
Once the court signs the order, send certified copies to BCSO and to any municipal agency holding the original booking record. One caution from the Judicial Branch stands out. Expunction does not reach every private website on its own. Secondary local pages run their own free correction or documentation procedures for fixing a lawful record. Nobody in North Carolina can lawfully demand payment to remove one. Walk away from anyone who claims otherwise.
The North Carolina arrest-photograph statute sets the collection rules that apply before any image can even count as a record worth requesting.

Keep the statute in perspective, though. It draws a legal line. It does not prove that any Bladen County app result actually includes a photograph.
Find Bladen County Busted Mugshots
Start official and stay official. BCSO's current navigation shows no public browser roster or booking-feed URL. Its mobile-app page does advertise "Inmate Search" and "Inmate Info." Need someone in county custody right now? Call the detention center. For an older booking or a releasable photo, file a records request instead. Match each channel to the custody situation it actually covers. That habit keeps you from chasing dead ends.
- Open the official BCSO app named “Bladen County Sheriff NC” and use Inmate Search or Inmate Info. Note the date checked and the result’s custody status.
- Call the detention center at (910) 862-6971 when a current custody answer matters. Call the main office at (910) 862-6960 for routing or records questions.
- If the arrest began with a city police department, ask that department for its incident or arrest record. City police pages do not show a public name-by-name booking feed.
- Search the official NC eCourts Portal for the case, then ask the Bladen Clerk at (910) 872-7200 for official copies or help with the disposition.
- If the person is in state prison, probation, or parole, switch to the NCDAC offender search. If federal custody is known, use BOP or ICE rather than treating a county booking as federal custody.
Custody status moves fast. A person booked an hour ago might still be in intake, waiting on a magistrate, or released within hours. A different agency could be holding them entirely. Released people can vanish from current-custody results even though the booking record still exists and remains subject to retention and disclosure rules. A sentenced state prisoner shows up in NCDAC, not the Bladen jail channel. Federal detainees may sit in BOP or ICE systems depending on their case. Secondary county pages help with a name or an old date, but they can never answer the current-custody question. Let the official source settle identity, custody, and court outcome. That discipline also keeps an old booking photo from being read as today's jail status.
Where Bladen Busted Mugshots Appear
Go to official sources first. The table on this page separates what is documented from what needs a live check. Local news and secondary sites sometimes publish a photo handed over by an agency. Still, none of that amounts to a full BCSO roster. With no official browser feed out there, the app, the detention phone line, and the records request all stay in the chain.
| Channel | Photo? | Authority and access |
|---|---|---|
| BCSO mobile app | Not promised | Official app advertises Inmate Search and Inmate Info. Check the live result. |
| BCSO detention center | By request, if releasable | Call (910) 862-6971 for current custody and routing. |
| Municipal police | Not documented | Request the incident or arrest record from Elizabethtown, Bladenboro, or White Lake Police. |
| NC eCourts Portal | No booking photo service | Use it for case events, hearings, and dispositions. The Clerk supplies official copies. |
| NCDAC search | Not guaranteed | State prison, probation, and parole only. It excludes county-jail information. |
| NC SAVAN | No | Custody notifications for registered users, not a photo gallery or full police-holding list. |
| Bladen Journal | Selected stories | News roundups sometimes use images credited to BCSO Facebook material. |
| BladenOnline | Selected stories | Crime category and archive, not a daily jail roster. |
| WECT and WWAY | Selected stories | Regional coverage with agency-attributed images on some arrest reports. |
| RecentlyBooked | May display one | Unofficial Bladen page states a 30-day window and multiple daily updates. |
| Busted Newspaper | May display one | Unofficial paginated county bookings page with accumulated records. |
| Mugshots.com | May display one | Unofficial Bladen County path. Check freshness and identity with BCSO. |
| Arrests.org | May display one | Unofficial Bladen section with date and older-year navigation. |
Want a busted mugshot from Bladen County? Four sites collect them. RecentlyBooked posts fresh bookings, Busted Newspaper sorts shots by county, Mugshots.com keeps an older archive, and Arrests.org rounds out the list. Treat each one as a lead, not a fact. Dates drift out of date. Fields go missing. Photos get duplicated or attached to the wrong person. Mugshots.zone, for its part, has no working Bladen page, so skip it and start with the four above.
Busted and Booked: The Bladen Jail Roster
No verified official roster URL exists in BCSO's current public navigation. The official lookup route is the BCSO mobile app, "Bladen County Sheriff NC." Its public description lists Inmate Search and Inmate Info. Beyond that, the app's page stays quiet. Search fields, photo rules, refresh timing, and how long a released person stays visible all go unmentioned. Treat any live result as something seen on a given day. It is not standing BCSO policy.
| Roster question | What the research supports |
|---|---|
| Portal | No official browser roster was located. |
| Search fields | Not published. The app must be checked live; inmate ID is known to exist from mail instructions. |
| Photos | Not documented by the official web page. Do not promise display. |
| Cadence | No same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, or weekly refresh promise was found. |
| Persistence | App visibility after release or transfer is not documented. |
| Custody state | Current or recent county detention, subject to app lag and release or transfer. |
When the app gives you a hit, write down the name, facility, inmate identifier, custody state, and any charge or release text shown. A blank result means just that: nothing came back. It does not mean no arrest happened. The person could be sitting in a police holding area, released at the magistrate level without county commitment, transferred elsewhere, listed under a different spelling, or simply outside the app's coverage.
- Search the official app using the exact name and any available identifier.
- Compare the result with the person’s age or other lawful identity details, not with a face alone.
- Write down the result date, because custody status can change after the search.
- Call the detention center when a current answer is important or the app is unclear.
- Use a BCSO records request for an older booking or photo and the Clerk for the later disposition.
The official BCSO mobile-app page documents the Inmate Search and Inmate Info functions.

The app stands as the documented official lookup. Its page, however, guarantees neither a booking photo nor any fixed update time.
Busted Last Night? Recent Bookings
Bladen County has no official same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, or weekly booking feed from the Sheriff's Office. That gap shapes what a searcher can actually find. Someone busted last night might still be in intake, waiting on a magistrate, already released, or held by an agency that skips county detention altogether. There is no fixed posting window to count on.
| Window | Verified Bladen path |
|---|---|
| Same day or 24 hours | BCSO app and detention phone. No official public feed or refresh time was documented. |
| 48 hours | No separate official view located. |
| 72 hours or weekly | No official multi-day or weekly booking page located. |
| Local reporting | Bladen Journal, BladenOnline, WECT, and WWAY publish selected stories, not complete feeds. |
| Unofficial recent pages | RecentlyBooked states 30 days and multiple daily updates on its own page. Busted Newspaper is paginated. Arrests.org has dates and older-year paths. |
When a private site republishes Bladen County arrest material, that timing belongs to the publisher, not BCSO. Local news picks and chooses, too. A paper might run an eight-arrest roundup with BCSO-supplied images and skip the routine bookings entirely. A TV station may report one city arrest and a bond figure while saying nothing about what came after release.
For a current answer, skip the middlemen. The county app and a detention number show live custody. A city police request gets the incident record. eCourts tracks case events, and the Clerk issues official copies. That chain still works after someone drops off a recent-bookings page but the booking or court file still matters.
The BCSO App and NC SAVAN
The official BCSO mobile-app page names "Bladen County Sheriff NC" as the county's dedicated digital channel. You can get it through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Features include Inmate Search, Inmate Info, Sex Offenders, Submit A Tip, and Contact Us. The app share link is provided by BCSO. The page does not promise that every feature works in every version, or that inmate results always include a photo.
NC SAVAN does a different job. This statewide system sends custody alerts by phone or email once you register, and it links to county jails across North Carolina plus state prisoners, probationers, and parolees. Its hotline is 1-877-627-2826. No booking photos, though. It also leaves out police-precinct holding, people released at the magistrate level without booking, juveniles, and mental-health facilities. Silence from SAVAN simply means no notice, not that no arrest occurred.
The NC SAVAN page explains the statewide custody-notification role.

Keep the roles straight. SAVAN sends alerts. The BCSO app and the detention center are the county's direct channels for custody questions.
North Carolina DOC Offender Photos
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, or NCDAC, runs state prison, probation, and parole records. Its Offender Public Information Search reaches back to 1972. It skips county-jail data, though. Someone in the Bladen County Detention Center right now will not appear there, even though the booking happened in Bladen County.
Search the NCDAC Offender Public Information Search by name or offender ID. Check identifiers closely. A state record showing release does not prove current Bladen custody. Need a state record or profile image? Contact NCDAC's public-records office at 214 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27603, or 5201 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-5201, or call (919) 733-2126. The agency says flatly that it keeps no local-jail records.
The split prevents a common mix-up. County custody is local and current. State DOC custody marks a later stage of correctional or supervision. A BCSO booking photo and an NCDAC offender profile image are different records, even under one name.
Busted, Booked, Released, or Transferred
Where a person sits in the process decides which office can help. A fresh booking may sit in intake, invisible to searches. Someone released on bond vanishes from current jail results. The booking and court file still persist, though. A state sentence moves the person into NCDAC's system. Federal custody belongs to BOP, ICE, or another federal agency. It never belongs to the county app.
| Custody state | Best record path | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Just arrested or in intake | Arresting agency, BCSO app, detention center | No result does not prove no arrest. |
| In Bladen County detention | BCSO app and (910) 862-6971 | The web site does not promise a photo or refresh time. |
| Released or transferred | BCSO records request, court file, NC SAVAN alerts | Dropping off a roster does not erase the booking. |
| State prison, probation, or parole | NCDAC offender search | NCDAC does not hold local jail records. |
| Federal custody | BOP locator, ICE locator, or federal case source | A county booking is not a federal custody record. |
State Archives retention rules add another wrinkle. An agency may keep a record long after it leaves the app. So an online entry can vanish years before retention ends. Older felony case-file material can carry a longer period than an identification photo kept outside a case file. Ask the custodian which category your record falls into. Never trust a webpage as the archive itself.
After a Bladen County Booking
Booking opens the case. It is not the story's end. A magistrate sets bond or imposes another release condition. From there, the case may go to a first appearance, a hearing, a plea, a dismissal, or judgment. "Disposition" is the court's recorded outcome. "Arraignment" is the court event where the person hears the charge and enters an answer. Those terms are why a jail record and a court record never match up neatly.
The NC eCourts Portal is the tool for public dockets. It can display case summaries, parties, registers of action, events, hearings, financial information, and dispositions. Bladen sits in Prosecutorial District 15, Superior Court District 15A, and District Court District 15. The Portal warns that its display is not the official court record. For official copies, go to the Bladen County Clerk, 166 E. Broad Street, Elizabethtown, (910) 872-7200. The District Attorney's Office is at (910) 872-7300, and magistrates at (910) 872-7221.
- Booking
- Jail intake after arrest or commitment.
- Bond
- A release amount or condition set through the court process.
- Disposition
- The court’s later outcome, such as dismissal, plea, or judgment.
- Expunction
- A court process that can remove or seal eligible records under a specific statute.
A booking is one step in a longer process. The roster shows who was arrested and when. For anything beyond that, the court file tells the fuller story.
Busted Mugshots by Bladen City
Don't picture a jail in every town. Elizabethtown, Bladenboro, and White Lake each list a police contact, yet none of their municipal sites posts a public booking roster or arrest blotter with names. Cities arrest; the county holds. When someone lands in county detention after a city arrest, the sheriff's office handles custody and intake. Want the incident report itself? That request goes to the city police department that made the arrest.
- Elizabethtown Busted Mugshots covers Elizabethtown Police, 805 West Broad Street, (910) 862-3125, and the county detention handoff.
- Bladenboro Busted Mugshots covers Bladenboro Police, 306 S. Main Street, (910) 863-3333, and the BCSO custody path.
- White Lake Busted Mugshots covers White Lake Police, its town report channel, and the county record route.
Keep the agency name straight when you search. A story out of Bladenboro belongs to Bladenboro Police, the detention record sits with the sheriff's office, and any outcome lives in the court file. Three separate labels. Treating every local reference as one catch-all "mugshot" source muddles all three, and it slows down anyone trying to trace a busted record back to where it actually started.
Bladen’s News and Secondary Pages
Local news fills part of the gap. The Bladen Journal, BladenOnline, WECT, and WWAY sometimes surface an incident, an agency statement, or a booking photo. The Bladen County arrest-news page breaks down what each outlet tends to publish. Just remember the limits. A story is context, not a custody roster, and it can linger online long after bond is posted or a court changes the result.
Third-party sites sit one rung lower. RecentlyBooked posts a stated 30-day window with several daily updates. Busted Newspaper keeps an accumulated county page, Mugshots.com has a Bladen path, and Arrests.org offers county and historical-year pages. Mugshots.zone turned up no verifiable Bladen page. None of these stands in for the sheriff's app, the detention line, the city records custodian, or the Clerk of Court.
Older Bladen Records and Archives
A recent booking starts with the sheriff's office. An older case takes a different first step: figure out what the image actually was. Part of a case file? An arrest report, a daily bulletin, or an inmate-incarceration record? North Carolina's County Sheriff's Office Records Retention and Disposition Schedule spells out how mug shots, ID photographs, arrest reports, warrants, case files, daily bulletins, and incarceration records get handled. One caution from the State Archives: the schedule is an approved disposition agreement for agencies, not a promise that any image stays searchable online.
Historical material rests with the State Archives. Its Bladen County finding aid spans 1761 to 1958, but that is an archive guide, not a booking-photo database. Before reaching out, nail down the agency, the date range, the record series, and the person or case. The research room sits at 109 E. Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27601, reachable at (919) 814-6840 or archives@dncr.nc.gov.
Federal and Immigration Custody
Federal custody runs on separate rails. The Bureau of Prisons locator finds people in BOP custody, but it is not a Bladen County jail roster, and a "Released" result says nothing about other systems that might still hold someone. The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers current and limited recent ICE custody, and it cannot search anyone under 18. Neither tool offers county booking photos at all.
The U.S. Marshals Service moves and holds federal pretrial detainees, though no public county-style USMS mugshot roster exists for Bladen. With a known federal case, go through the federal court or the responsible agency. Two things not to assume: a federal or immigration hold from an ordinary county booking, or a current federal detention contract from a county retention-schedule line item.
